NNWE Reception: How can nuclear energy contribute to delivering the COP21 Paris CO2 reduction goals?

On 22 May 2017, NNWE held a Reception on: How can nuclear energy contribute to delivering the COP21 Paris CO2 reduction goals?, alongside the ‘European Nuclear Energy Forum Plenary Meeting in Prague. We were delighted that Lenka Kovačovská, Deputy Minister -Energy, Ministry for Industry and Trade, Czech Republic Government; Dr Stephan Lechner, Director – Euratom, DG Energy – European Commission; and Petr Závodský, Director Nuclear Power Plants Construction, ČEZ  were able to join us for the discussion, with over 50 delegates in attendance from across the industry, Europe and international nuclear community.

The Reception focused on how the industry is working with governments, towards their Paris Agreement targets, and what barriers exist across Europe for the industry to truly play its vital role in decarbonisation the electricity grid. The Reception was FacebookLive’d and the recording can be viewed below.

More information on the group, entitled: The Organisation for Nuclear Cooperation in Europe (ONCE), can be found on our website here.
